In what could have been the biggest game of her young career, Afton's sophomore Jordan Nichols made three saves to record a shut out win over Holland Patent. Now, she prepares for what will surely be the toughest opponent the Crimson Knight keeper has faced.
Nichols and the rest of the Afton Field Hockey squad will take on the Lakeland Hornets in the New York State semifinals Saturday afternoon at Williamsville North High School. Lakeland, the defending New York State Class B champions, will be seeking their 10th straight state title.
The Crimson Knights' goalie will play a very valuable role if Afton is to upset the Class B powerhouse. Nichols, however, has been able to prepare for this game because of the opponents she faces in the regular season.
Afton's regular season schedule includes teams like Maine-Endwell, Greene, Vestal, and Whitney Point.
