NEW BERLIN – Nearly the entire Unadilla Valley Lady Storm basketball team scored a point in the contest as they opened the season with a 48-23 home win over the Milford Wildcats Monday night.
To open the game, UV held the Wildcats to zero points scored while the home team tallied 16 in the first eight minutes of play. The Storm’s Sophie Off tallied eight of her 12 points in the quarter while Shelby Meade added four.
The two switched rolls in the second as Meade dropped six, giving her 10 points before the intermission. Off added a basket as the duo combined for 20 of Unadilla Valley’s first half points. Their teammate Meegan White chipped in the five by the break as well as the Storm led 28-4 at halftime.
UV continued to roll in the second half, scoring another 20 points in 12 minutes of play. The made baskets were spread throughout the Storm team.
“This was a good team win,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Brandi Whitbeck. “It was a great first game to see where we are at and where we need to improve.”
