Lady Vikings 4th Quarter Comeback Secures Second Win Of Season; Oxford And Greene Suffer Losses

OTSELIC – Trailing the McGraw Eagles 21-15 at the halftime break, the Lady Vikings of Otselic Valley closed the third quarter still down by eight points. With 45 seconds remaining in the contest, OV’s Gracie Costa hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 34-34.

30 seconds later, Leah Kalin of the Vikings hit one of three attempts at the foul line to take a 35-34 lead. Playing smart defense, Otselic Valley held onto the lead for their second straight win.

McGraw held a 13-5 advantage after the first quarter but the Vikings answered by outscoring the Eagles 10-8 in the second, closing down the lead to six points.

Otselic Valley score 14 points down the final stretch and held their opponent to just five points in the quarter.

Costa finished with nine points while teammate Maygan Roy ended the night with a team-high 10 and pulled down eight rebounds in the late game comeback.

Jessica Comfort added eight boards in the win for the the Vikings and Cassie Argen recorded seven rebounds and eight points. Kalin chipped in six points, including the game-winning free throw and had four steals in the contest.

OV picked up their first win of the season at Afton on Friday night when they beat Cincinnatus at the Crimson Knights annual Tip-off Tournament.

The Vikings lead 15-10 at halftime and with their 28 point second half, they went on to beat their conference foe in the non-league consolation game, 43-28.
