COOPERSTOWN – Sherburne-Earlville stole the road win over Cooperstown, winning 88-87 in a Tuesday night league showdown at the Hawkeyes pool.
Cooperstown captured first place in 8 of 12 events during the meet but with their second, third and fourth place finishes as well as having Anna Rinaldo compete as the only diver of the contest, the Marauders were able to keep the meet close before winning with their top finish in the 400 yard freestyle event.
S-E’s Ian Wilson, Conor Ryan, Mathew Ryan and Caleb Larcher touched the wall six seconds faster than the second place foursome from the Hawkeyes in the final event of the night to claim the team win. Also aiding in the win as the two teams claimed the 10 points need to win was the Marauders’ third place team of Peter Peschel, Amon Van Alst, Declan Wilson and Shaun McDaniel.
