NEW BERLIN – The Bobcats of Bainbridge-Guilford led by 10 at halftime over the host Unadilla Valley Storm in a MAC conference battle Thursday night. After the two teams each scored six points in the third, the game was still in reach for the Storm with one quarter remaining.

That was until the Bobcats went on a 17-5 run in the final eight minute stretch behind Erica Selfridge’s eight points, moving on to defeat UV 55-33.

The two teams met for the second time this season and unlike the first meeting where B-G started off the game hot, the Storm were within three points after the first quarter.

Bainbridge-Guilford slightly grew the margin, outscoring Unadilla Valley 19-12 in the second with balanced scoring throughout the players that stepped onto the court in the quarter.

Out of the intermission, the Storm matched points with B-G in the third, setting up the comeback potential for the fourth.

UV pulled within eight at one point in the final stanza but when the Bobcats’ Selfridge knocked down two 3-pointers, it took the wind out the Storm’s sail.

“We played them much better than we did 2 weeks ago,” said Unadilla Valley’s head coach Brandi Whitbeck. “However, poor foul shoot and too many turnovers aren’t going to help you beat a team like [Bainbridge-Guilford].”
