AFTON – Representatives of a family farm in Afton said the farm is struggling to recuperate its losses after someone injected over 20 of their cows with antibiotics, causing them thousands of dollars in product loss, and considerable financial strife.
According to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting, by injecting the cows with antibiotics, it rendered a majority of the farm's product unsellable due to health regulations.
"It's very unusual for something like this to happen in Chenango County," said Cutting. "The case is still open, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to our office."
According to Tammy Rae Palmetier, Robert Palmetier and his family have been unable to earn income from 21 of their 40 cows since they discovered the cows were infected, and have since then lost three cows.
