NORWICH – A Norwich man accused of child rape appeared in Norwich City Court on Thursday, and waived his right to have a felony hearing and was denied a bail reduction.
Jamie Lynn Whitmore Jr., 23, of Norwich was charged with first-degree rape, a class B felony, first-degree criminal sexual act, a class B felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
According to court records, the crime allegedly occurred on November 19, on Borden Avenue, in the City of Norwich with a six-year-old victim.
Whitmore appeared with his attorney, Jonathan Becker, and said he needed a new attorney due to a conflict of interest with the attorneys at the public defender's office.
"My client was arrested two days ago, and our intention is to waive the timeliness of the felony hearing for now," said Becker.
