SIDNEY – The Lady Blackhawks rebounded from their loss over the holiday break with a win on the road against the Sidney Warriors Wednesday night, 41-29. In the win, Oxford scored 13 points off of Sidney turnovers.
The Blackhawks opened the game up with a 13-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 25-14 by the intermission.
Out of the break, the Warriors’ defense held Oxford to a single basket to close the deficit down to seven points after three quarters. However, a 14-9 fourth quarter score allowed the Blackhawks to hold onto the lead and finish the game on top.
As a team, Oxford recorded eight assists on 16 made baskets with Ellie Ryan personally leading the way in the stat column with three. Ryan also finished the game with a game-high 15 points.
Teammate’s Caitlyn Quigley and Madalyn Barrows controlled the boards for the Blackhawks as the two combined for 17 of the team’s 35. Quigley ended the night with eight rebounds to go along with nine points, nearly recording a double-double in the contest.
