BAINBRIDGE – The Lady Bobcats continued their reign as the Kazalski Tournament champions after defeating the Deposit/Hancock Eagles in the title game Friday, 49-23.
In both of the first two quarters of play, Bainbridge-Guilford put 12 points on the scoreboard while they defensively held the Eagles to single digits. In the second, the Bobcats went on a 12-2 run to close out the first half with a 24-7 lead.
Out of the halftime break, B-G scored 13 points in the final six minute stretch of the third quarter.
The last quarter saw the Eagles outscore the Bobcats 9-7 but Bainbridge-Guilford’s lead through the first 24 minutes was too much for Deposit/Hancock. In the fourth, the Bobcats received all seven of their points from Isabelle Decker.
B-G’s defense held the Eagles Lacee Drake – one of the leading scorers in Section IV – to just 10 points in the contest but her offensive production led Deposit/Hancock.
The Bobcats were led by Abi Selfridge’s 19 with Erica Selfridge recording double figures, scoring 13 in the game.
The first round game for Bainbridge-Guilford played out nearly the same way as the championship game as the Bobcats held the Sidney Warriors to single digits in all four quarters. B-G won the game with a final score of 64-18.
Abi, Erica and Macie Leizear all ended the opening night with double digits in scoring. Abi led the way with 22 points while Erica and Leizear tallied 13 in the game.
