ONEONTA – After a slow start to the contest, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats matched Frankfort-Schuyler point for point in the second half. However, it was the lead that the Maroon Knights built in the first half that guided them past the Bobcats in the consolation game of the Ray Clement Tournament held over the holiday break.

B-G was held to eight points in the first half while offensively, the Frankfort-Schuyler put up 37 first half points to go into the locker room with a 29 point lead.

In the second half, the Bobcats found their rhythm with Devon Scherhaufer’s 3-pointer and perfect 4-for-4 shooting at the foul line as a boost in the third quarter.

The final eight minutes of play saw balanced scoring by B-G as they scored 13 in the stanza. This quarter, Michael Stevens paced Bainbridge-Guilford with his five points.

The Bobcats were led by Scherhaufer’s 13 points for a high in the scoring column. Teammates Haiden Burns and Tom Palmatier both chipped in seven points in the loss.

The opening round game for B-G ended with a loss to Morris after yet another untimely slow start to the contest.
