Vikings’ Adams scores 24 in loss to Brookfield
CANASTOTA – Shooting 7-for-8 at the foul line in the late game stretch, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders remained undefeated in Center State Conference divisional play, topping Canastota 44-29 Saturday afternoon.
Limiting the host team to just six points behind some great defense by the Marauders, S-E took a six point lead after the first quarter – eight coming from the hot shooting hand of Hunter Lane in the stanza.
In the second, however, Canastota cut into the lead with their nine points tallied, trailing by just one point as the two teams went into the locket room at half.
Once again displaying their lockdown defense in the third, the Marauders went on a run. Outscoring the Raiders 19-4 in the stanza, Sherburne-Earlville took a commanding 35-19 lead with one quarter of play remaining.
During the productive offensive quarter for S-E, Lane added another eight points while teammate Robert Hill drained two 3-pointers for six. To give the team three from long range, Ryan Asma added a third.
All but two points in the fourth came at the free throw stripe for the Marauders. Canastota slightly outscored Sherburne-Earlville but the deficit created in the third was too big for the Raiders to come back from.
