BAINBRIDGE – The Chenango County Health Department issued a boil water order for the Village of Bainbridge Water District effective Thursday after a water main broke somewhere throughout the village’s water supply.
A section of the warning reads as follows, “Do not drink the water without boiling it first... Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.”
Bainbridge officials said they are almost certain that the break is somewhere near Newton Creek and Kirby Street, but are still working to isolate and repair the water main.
