Trojans roll past Warriors
BAINBRIDGE – The Bobcats used a big first quarter run to take the Friday night win over Midstate Athletic Conference opponent Deposit/Hancock, 61-55.
Bainbridge-Guilford jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter and continued to hold that lead through the second after both teams tallied 20 points in the quarter.
After the intermission, the Eagles chipped away at the Bobcats lead in each subsequent quarter but B-G hit the foul shots from the charity stripe late in the game to preserve their lead and hold on for the victory.
B-G’s Devon Scherhaufer, Haiden Burns and Thomas Palmatier each went 2-for-2 at the free throw line down the stretch and the home team claimed the six point win.
Burns recorded a double-double, scoring a game high 22 points and pulling down 17 boards.
Scherhaufer hit two 3-pointers, counting for six of his 14 points scored, while Palmatier finished the game with 14 for the Bobcats.
Cole Russell of Deposit/Hancock tied Burns for a game-high, ending the night with 22 points. Teammate Caleb Walker kicked in 16 while Tyler Santamaria added seven.
Bainbridge-Guilford (3-11, 2-4) travels to Walton Tuesday night for another conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
