Boys claim STAC East Division title
NORWICH – The Purple Tornado boys bowling team clinched first place in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference East Division after their 5-0 win over Chenango Forks Monday afternoon. The Norwich squad returned five of their seven bowlers that reached the New York State Championships a year ago and topped the Blue Devils in the match by 690 pins.
The Tornado’s Nick Deady and Griffin Clipston each bowled a 627 series, tying for the best three-game total for the match. Deady’s third game score was a 247––the highest of the afternoon by any bowler in the match.
Clipston rolled two 200-plus games to lead Norwich in the first two games of the match. Teammate Cameron Birtch finished the match with a 581 series that included a 212 game in the third while Scotty Manwarren hit 200 in game two on his way to an end total of 520 for the three games.
