B-G wins last 3 MAC games
GREENE – All 10 players on the Lady Trojans roster scored in Wednesday’s 68-11 win over Afton in their final regular season game.
Greene opened the game holding the Crimson Knights scoreless while Emma Smith registered six of the Trojans 11 first-quarter points.
McKenna Sergi, the lone senior on the Greene roster this season, celebrated her special night in style as she recorded a game-high 21 points. Sergi knocked down all five of the Trojans’ 3-point buckets in the contest, starting with two in the second quarter as she paced the home team with 10 points in the stanza.
Making her other three from behind the 3-point arc after the halftime break, Sergi once again led in the scoring column in the third.
As the Trojans recorded 20-plus points in both the second and third quarters, all Greene players registered points in the scorebook before the start of the fourth.
Afton closed out the game with six points, their highest scoring quarter. Casey East led the Crimson Knights with four points.
Smith finished the game with 14 points – all scored in the first half – and teammate Katelynn Pratt added nine in the win for Greene.
The Trojans, the sixth-seed in the Midstate Athletic Conference playoff tournament, will host Oxford for a first round contest Monday night. The start time has yet to be announced.
Bainbridge-Guilford 61, Greene 56
BAINBRIDGE – After the Lady Bobcats held the lead for the first three quarters of play, the Greene Trojans rebounded in the fourth quarter as Kylee Peck made to free throws, tying the game at 50-50 with 4:39 remaining on Tuesday.
20 seconds later, Bainbridge-Guilford’s Abi Selfridge scored two points to take the lead back and ultimately for good as the Bobcats took the Midstate Athletic Conference win, 61-56.
Greene started the fourth on a 12-2 run, erasing the 12 point Bobcat lead with balanced scoring between Olivia Kennedy, Emma Smith, McKenna Sergi and Peck. However, their offense stalled for nearly three minutes while B-G built their lead back up on each possession down the floor.
Bainbridge-Guilford opened up the game with a 16-9 first quarter score and continued to add to the margin in each of the three quarters.
In the close second quarter, B-G outscored Greene 14-12 to take a nine point advantage into the halftime break. All 12 Trojan points scored in the stanza came from Smith.
