Norwich resident Shawn Sastri formally announced he will run for Mayor of the City of Norwich as a Republican candidate.

NORWICH – Norwich resident Shawn Sastri has formally announced his intention to run for mayor of the City of Norwich as a Republican candidate.

Sastri, a Customer Service employee for CZ-USA/Dan Wesson who was born and raised in Norwich, said after over 10 years of considering running for mayor, the time is now right in his and his family's life to make a run for office.

"This is a whole new experience for me," said Sastri. "I am looking forward to learning the process and what it takes to run for and be the mayor of Norwich."

For his campaign goals, Sastri said he feels strongly about working to ensure the city maintains a strong relationship with the town of Norwich, working to support local businesses, and being readily available to hear the concerns of city taxpayers.

"I would like to see the city and town work together to make Norwich a better place for people to live, work, and visit," said Sastri. "I would also make myself available to the community with regularly scheduled office hours ... I am interested in hearing your concerns of the city."
