NORWICH – After last summer's event was thought to be the last, the Rock in the Park charity concert will return for at least one more year with a two-day festival at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in June featuring headlining act Thompson Square.
Since the first event in 2012, the Rock in the Park charity concert in Bainbridge has raised over $50,000 for local charities over a day of music in General Clinton Park every summer.
Concert organizer Jason Hall said while the seventh Rock in the Park concert in July 2018 was supposed to be the last, the bands, venue, and stars aligned for the event to continue another year.
"I got [Thompson Square] to come through and it was hard to turn down," said Hall. "We're going to try a weekend. I've always wanted to try a Saturday, Sunday, two-day event.
"Don't get me wrong, I love Bainbridge and the park is great. But number one, they were booked, and number two, I like that Norwich is a bigger area. Obviously we draw people from outside, but that area alone has more people than what we had to draw from.""
