NORWICH – Step it up for kids, organized by The Place and Creative Works Inc. of Norwich is joining in on the celebration of children by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The event will be held this weekend on April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Artists Palette in Norwich located at 17-19 South Broad Street.

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. With roughly a dozen organizations attending, there will be activities for all ages, face painting, giveaways and much more.

The NAEYC is the world's largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 members and a network of 50 local, state, and regional affiliates.

The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
