SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville’s Brooke Hailston struck out 11 Canastota batters in the Marauders second straight win of the season Monday afternoon. S-E claimed a 7-1 win on seven hits.

Savannah Niles and Jaci Wright each had two hits in the game for the Marauders while teammate Nevaeh Waffle racked up two RBIs in the win.

Sherburne-Earlville scored five of their seven runs in the bottom of the third as Wright started the rally with a single. Waffle then sent her teammate across home plate in the next at-bat as she ripped a double to left field.

Stepping to home plate next was Jesse Buruato, who also sent a screaming shot to left field for a single but brought Waffle in for the score to make it 2-0.

Niles and McKenzie Holmes also had singles in the inning. Holmes hit brought in one run while Tessa Cole’s second trip to the plate resulted in a fielder’s choice RBI.

In the top of the fourth, Canastota’s clean-up hitter Emmalee Warner hit a single as the second batter of the inning and Jessica Evans sent a shot out to left field to put runners on the base paths for the visiting team.

Warner scored on error later in the inning but the Marauders defense allowed just that single run.

Sherburne-Earlville scored another two runs in the fifth, giving Waffle her second RBI of the contest.
