NORWICH – Eight out of ten people experience back pain at some point in their life, according to one area spine expert.
“More people visit their health care provider because of back pain than for the common cold,” said Kristen Menard, ANP, of UHS Orthopedics in Norwich.
According to Menard, spine issues can present in a variety of ways.
“Everything from the uneven wearing of your shoes or needing to crack your joints, to poor concentration, fatigue and frequent headaches can be a sign of a back issue,” she explained. “And, of course, there are the more obvious symptoms like neck stiffness, backache and muscle tenderness.”
Menard will present on the topic of spine health on Tuesday, April 23 at Bohemian Moon, 103 W. Main Street in Norwich. The program is part of UHS Chenango Memorial’s 2019 Women’s Health Series, held monthly at the Norwich restaurant.
