NORWICH – The fifth annual Take a Shot at Diabetes, comedy for a cause is scheduled for this Saturday with Pat DaBiere as the comedy headliner and special guest Cody Montayne as additional entertainment.
The event will begin with a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Canasawacta County Club in the Town of Norwich. The comedy portion of the event will be held in the same building and will be headed by Pat Dabiere and Cody Montayne starting at 7 p.m.
According to one of the founder's of Chenango County's Take A Shot at Diabetes, comedy for a cause, Terry Potter, over the years, money raised by the comedy night event has gone towards sending children with diabetes to camp, as well as helping aid the camp’s efforts to provide a one of a kind experience to camp goers. He said that the group continues to partner with the Norwich Family YMCA to educate people on and promote healthy living.
The ASPIRE camp - which stands for Always Sharing Priceless, Inspirational, Rewarding Experiences - caters to children with diabetes and is located on a 156-acre campus in Rush, NY, said Potter. The camp includes a wide range of outdoor activities such as swimming, boating, and fishing as well as arts and crafts, drama, a climbing wall, and more.
