Greene And Lady Crimson Knights Come Away With Wins On The Diamond

NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm held a 2-0 lead over the Lady Crimson Knights after the first inning but Afton got their bats in the top of the second. From there, the Crimson Knights cruised to a 15-7 over host Unadilla Valley Monday.

The Storm did fight back later in the game, scoring runs in the last four innings of play but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Afton lead.

Unadilla Valley got on the scoreboard first, using back-to-back doubles by Kirsten White and Teresa Burgharct. Meegan White crossed the plate when sister Kirsten knocked a line-drive to centerfield. In the next at-bat, the favor was returned for Kirsten White as Burgharct hit a pop fly to center.

However in the next inning, Afton collected two hits and drew four walks, scoring five runs in the second. The Crimson Knights made the score 9-2 in the top of the third, recording another four hits – including doubles by Taylor Schultz and Madison Baciuska – to score four runs in the inning.

Afton finished the game scoring another six runs four the remaining four innings of play. The Crimson Knights racked up 12 hits the high-scoring affair. Schultz and Baciuska were joined by teammates Samantha Schoelier, Makaela Mills and Olivia Harris-Morris as all batters recored two hits each in the win. Schoelier added the only triple for the Afton squad.
