No. 8 Trojans Spilt Back-to-back Games

GREENE – After suffering their first loss of the season, the eighth ranked team of New York State Class C rankings Greene Lady Trojans recovered by winning topping Unatego 17-0 Wednesday afternoon. 

The Trojans used 15 singles and 18 hits in the game to score eight runs in the first and fourth innings. The home team added one run in the third and were held scoreless by the Spartans in the second inning.

Greene’s freshman catcher McKenzie Scott led the team at the plate, recording three hits and four RBIs over the five innings of play while several players on the Trojans roster came away with two hits in their at-bats.

Olivia Kennedy, Greene’s freshman ace from the circle, threw another no-hitter from the rubber, marking her fourth of the season. Nearly pitching a perfect game, Kennedy walked just two Unatego batters but struck out six in the win.

Kennedy helped her own cause by batting in two Trojan runners in three hits for the game.

Greene did not commit an error defensively.

The Trojans saw their first loss of the season, falling to No. 13 in the state – the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats – 4-1 Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats’ Kori Thornton came away with a double base knock in back-to-back at-bats in the, sending in Bainbridge-Guilford runners across the plate in both the fourth and sixth innings.
