Norwich wins 3rd straight after rocky start to the season

DEPOSIT – The Greene Trojans fell behind early in the contest and had a hard time putting the bat on the ball in their 13-2 loss against Deposit/Hancock Thursday.

The Eagles scored 13 runs on 12 hits and one error and were offensively led by both Cole Russell and Raymond Rynearson. Russell and Rynearson each went 3-for-3 at the plate while teammate Caleb Walker rocked another home run, his second this week.

Greene scored their two runs in the top of the fifth inning as Grayson Flanagan drew a lead-off walk. Two batters later, the Trojans’ Nick Shoemaker landed on a first after watching ball four in the at-bat go past him. Flanagan, who was on third after a stolen base and a ground out by teammate Owen Howell, waited on the bag until Logan Kennedy sent a hard ground ball to the second baseman.

Flanagan scored the first run of the inning and on the same hit, Shoemaker came barreling across the plate to score the second of the frame.

However, Deposit/Hancock was able to get back those two runs and tack on another six in the bottom half of the inning, extending their lead to 12-2. The Eagles added one more in the bottom of the sixth.
