Sprint medley relay teams for the Tornado qualify for nationals
ONEONTA – Battling the rainy conditions in Oneonta, like the teams have most of the season, the Norwich boys and girls track and field team came out on top of the competition at the Oneonta Invitational Friday afternoon. The Boys captured the trophy with 129 points while the girls team used 117 points to finish in the top spot.
The Bainbridge-Guilford girls team nabbed a top-five finish with 58.50 points while the Oxford girls placed seventh and Greene came in at the No. 9 spot. The Bobcats boys team placed seventh and the Trojans finished in 12th.
Norwich’s Miranda Cole and Eric Conant added more first place ribbons to their 2019 collection in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Cole crossed the finish line in the 100 at 12.87 seconds, just tenths of a second ahead of B-G’s Erica Selfridge.
Cole and Selfridge had the same 1-2 finish in the 200 meter event as the Norwich freshman sprinter ran to a time of 26.55 seconds. Selfridge finished the race at 27.67 seconds. Cole’s colleague Riley Marsh placed third in both events while Milla Gonzalez of Oxford placed fifth in the 100 and fourth in the 200.
