Norwich falls to Sabers by two, still need one win for chance at playoffs
GREENE – The Sidney Warriors answered Greene’s four-run second winning by tallying 12 in the fourth to defeat the second-seed Trojans in the Midstate Athletic Conference Championship semifinal Thursday afternoon.
Greene struck first in the game, scoring four runs on three hits, two walks and an error by the Sidney defense.
Logan Kennedy led the frame off with a battle at the plate, recording the walk after five pitches. Two batters later and a stolen base by Kennedy, Trenton Rapp hit a ground ball to shortstop but the play attempt by the Warriors resulted in no outs as they were unable to get the lead runner at third.
Kennedy scored the first run of the game on an error during Hogan Ludolph’s at-bat. Ludolph ended up on first with a walk.
As if it was almost on instant replay, Rapp scored on an error while Ludolph picked up a stolen base.
Grayson Flanagan’s line drive double scored Ludolph from second, giving the Trojans a 3-0 lead. As the next batter, Owen Howell ripped a hard ground ball to the shortstop. With two outs in the inning, Flanagan was able to get a good jump on the contact and was able to score from second on the attempt to get Howell out at first. The inning ended with Greene leading 4-0 after the next batter.
