Oxford’s playoff run cut short by second-seeded Thomas A. Edison Spartans

ELMIRA – The Oxford Lady Blackhawks saw their season come to a close Wednesday at Thomas A. Edison, falling to the Spartans 15-0 in the opening round of the Section IV Class C softball tournament.

The Thomas Edison batters got the game going early, scoring three in the bottom half of the first inning.

Oxford’s defense held the Spartans to just those three runs, getting out of a jam in nearly every inning as Thomas Edison left several baserunners stranded.

The Spartans added another three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Blackhawks’ Allison Beckwith tossed the final game of her high school career against the Spartans with senior teammate Jessie Howe behind the plate.
