WHITNEY POINT – Unadilla Valley’s Bailey Shoemaker returns to the New York State Golf Championship tournament after capturing the Section IV title on Tuesday, May 21 at the Soaring Eagles Golf Course in Whitney Point.
Aiming for a 1-under-par 70 score, the same score she shot a year ago to win the sectional crown, Shoemaker battled the windy conditions during her round.
While she didn’t shot the score she wanted, the UV eighth-grader finished the 18 holes with a 3-over-par 74 to top the runner-up – Emily Gresham of Chenango Forks – by six shots.
Shoemaker will now take a shot at the New York State Championship at Deerfield Country Club in Brockport on June 1 and 2. She will have a practice round on May 31 to prepare for the course.
