NORWICH – City of Norwich officials are celebrating this Arbor Day by commencing with the first of four tree plantings that city received using funds through a Department of Environmental Conservation grant.
The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. on June 7th in Weiler Park by the playground. Officials said this celebration will kick off the Spring Tree Planting event that will happen immediately afterwards with the help of local volunteers.
According to the Chairperson of the Norwich Tree Commission Rebecca Hargrave, the City of Norwich received $13,015.25 through the grant program and is planning to make trees available to City of Norwich residents who are interested in having a tree planted on their property.
