NORWICH – The Place announced that it is signing a contract with the Chenango County Department of Social Services again this year to run the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), a program of New York State’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

Officials said The Place will receive funding to make this program possible for at least 88 Chenango County youth.

SYEP is slated to run July 1st through August 2nd, providing youth ages 14 to 20 years of age, from temporary assistance for needy families eligible households with valuable work experience and a much-needed paycheck.

Officials added that youth will work part-time, five days a week and will not only have the opportunity to gain work experience, but they will also be provided with training opportunities including resume writing, professionalism in the workplace, interviewing tips, and financial literacy.
