Ponies Knock Off ‘Cats On Mazeika’s Big Hit In 10th

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Patrick Mazeika hit the go-ahead two-run single in the 10th that was just enough for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-0) to get past the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-2 in 10 innings at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Wednesday evening. The Ponies have now taken the first two games of the series, ending a run of five straight series that they had dropped.

Mazeika finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and has five RBIs over the first two games of the series. In the 10th, he came up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs and sent a screaming single to right-center, scoring Braxton Lee and Ali Sanchez.

The two teams put runs on the board through the first nine innings via sacrifice flies. The Fisher Cats’ (0-1) Logan Warmoth hit a deep fly ball to center off the Ponies’ Mickey Jannis to put New Hampshire up 1-0 in the fourth.

The Ponies then loaded the bases in the sixth with one out and Barrett Barnes hit a sacrifice fly to score Lee from third, tying the game a 1-1.
