NORWICH – For the fifth year, the Elevate Your Game Basketball Camp returns to the Norwich YMCA for the week of July 8 to the 11.
Oneonta Women’s Basketball Coach Daphne Thompson and husband Keith have over 27 years of collegiate coaching experience and will be bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the camp.
As the Thompson’s will be spearheading the camp, they will be offering group and one-on-one instruction to develop correct fundamentals of the game for players between fourth and 12th grade.
The two have stated instruction this year will focus on offensive skills and will incorporate the 3-on-3 game setting into the development of players.
“This format will work well for all players as they improve their offensive skills to prepare for their recreation or school teams,” said Thompson. “This will also helps many of the kids as they prepare for the annual Gus Macker Tournament.”
The 24th Annual Gus Macker Tournament takes place in downtown Norwich on July 13 and 14.
The camp will run each day from 9 a.m. to Noon and the fee is $75 for YMCA members, $85 for non-members. For more information, contact the Norwich Family YMCA at (607) 336-9622 or head to the website, www.norwichymca.com.
