OXFORD – The U14 boys soccer team of the Chenango Chargers organization went undefeated to win the 2019 Broome County Soccer Association Division 2 title. Head coach Wilfried Spalholz stated the win was a total team effort and every player contributed to winning the title.
Goalkeeper Trent D’Marinelli and defenders Braydon Hippenstiel, Drake Kolis and John Rovente were very instrumental in the undefeated season. Midfielders Devon Hartwell, Brandon Blanco, Captain Ethan Hodge, Kyle MacNeill and Gerald Hornbeck generated the energy and moved the team over half field to the opponent’s penalty area.
From there, the group created many scoring opportunities for the forwards – Sylas Emerson, Noah Ellsworth, Owen Hill and Trason Murray.
Players Aston DeSha, Jack Figary and Evan Meek helped fill in positions whereever needed and did a fine job at that stated Spalholz.
“I also have to give a special thanks to all the parents and the rest of my coaching staff of Rick Fowler and Steve Ellsworth,” said Spalholz. The season came to a end on July 2.
