SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville fell in their season opener in a non-league foe Clinton 8-0 as the Lady Warriors outshot the host Marauders 18-1.
Clinton’s Madison Steates tallied four goals in the win and Adele Bahara added one goal and two assists.
Sherburne-Earlville’s head coach Christie Layman noted Katie Keyes had an outstanding defensive defensive performance for the home team despite the loss.
The Warriors also earned 12 penalty corners while S-E was awarded zero.
The Marauders (0-1) host Morrisville-Eaton, Herkimer, and Sidney for the 37th Annual Sherburne-Earlville Varsity Field Hockey Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Games start at 4:30 p.m. Friday for the first round and will conclude Saturday with both the consolation and championship games.
