About 10 minutes later, Oxford’s Kaylin Tefft tied the game up at 1-1. The two teams went into the halftime break with the same score as possession was nearly equal for the remaining minutes of the first. With 37:11 left in the game, the Blackhawks’ Ellie Ryan tallied the go ahead goal. Raven Brophy-Quintana added on of her two goals as insurance and Emily Barrows tacked on the fifth to give the home team a four-goal win. Hailey Flurey of Oxford distributed the ball to her teammates as she ended the game with two assists. Ryan and Barrows each found a fellow Blackhawk with a good ball that resulted in a score for Oxford. The Blackhawks, now 2-2 on the season, host their annual tournament Friday and Saturday as Otselic Valley, Schenevus and Downsville. Oxford will take on Downsville at 6:45 p.m. while the Vikings will face off against Schenevus at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The consolation and championship games take place Saturday night. Unadilla Valley 5, Greene 2 GREENE – The Storm girls soccer team took an early lead but the host Greene Trojans cut the two goal deficit in half before the intermission Wednesday night. Unadilla Valley came out firing in the second, tacking on three additional goals to secure the Midstate Athletic Conference win by a final of 5-2 over the Trojans. Kyleigh George stuck first for the Storm, needing only 10 minutes from the opening kick off to give her team a 1-0 lead. Finding George for the goal was Paige Catena for one of her two assists in the game. UV’s Kadence York has been on scoring frenzy in the first three games of the season as she added another two goals in Wednesday’s game, giving her five on the year. York’s first tally in Wednesday’s game came from George. York also had an assist in the contest, sending a ball to Katrina Smith for the fifth and final goal of the game. Greene’s Cassie Butler scored the Trojans’ goal in the first half as teammate Adrianna Romano fired a cross in front of the goal. Butler gathered the ball and found the back of the net, blasting it back UV keeper Meegan White with 2:05 left before the break. George added an insurance goal for the Storm when she converted a penalty kick in the early minutes of the season half. Catena and York had a connection for the fourth goal with 29:30 left in the contest. Scoring the second goal for the Trojans was Andrea Trifunivic after receiving a pass from Grace Wentlent with 8:25 remaining in the game. Unadilla Valley (2-1) hosts the 2019 NY Pizzeria Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the first game being played between Milford and Gilberstville-Mount Upton at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The Storm will meet Bainbridge-Guilford Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday will see both consolation and championship games on the stadium field.
