OTSELIC – Facing an always high-powered offensive attack from Cincinnatus, the Vikings held visiting Lions to one goal in the first 76 minutes of play. However, the skilled Lions offense were able to tack on another two goals, defeating Otselic Valley 3-0 Wednesday afternoon.

“The boys from OV worked hard defense tonight against a skilled offensive team,” said Vikings’ head coach Jake Preston. “We had to play players in different positions with starter Lane Adams out with an ankle injury, and they stepped up. I was proud of our guys tonight.

Cincinnatus’ first goal came by forward Nolan Rice poking a quick shot past Cody O’Hara during the player-vs-goalie situation.

O’Hara, who stopped 18 of the Lions’ 26 shots that came his direction, held the visiting a team with his standout play noted by Preston.

Aiding in the defensive play to limit Cincinnatus to the early, first half goal was sweeper Jaxin Davis and stopper Carter Smith as the Lions controlled the possession for much of the game in their offensive half of the pitch.
