NEW YORK – Last month 40 democratic judicial delegates gathered in Binghamton to nominate Norwich local Claudette Newman to run for State Supreme Court for the 6th Judicial District.

Officials said she received unanimous support, and continues to campaign in the 6th Judicial District’s 10 counties—Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins.

“Having 40 delegates step up to support my candidacy is a great way to start this campaign,” said Newman. “I’m looking forward to campaigning throughout the judicial district’s ten counties to bring my message of fairness before the court and commitment to the law to the voters.”

Newman has close to 20 years of experience practicing in State Supreme Court. From 1999 through 2017, Newman served as the Principal Law Clerk for the now retired State Supreme Court Justice Kevin M. Dowd.

As Dowd’s Principal Law Clerk, she reviewed all the cases that came before the court including matrimonial, municipal, zoning, personal injury, contract, mental health, felony criminal and Family Court cases.
