ONEONTA – Meeting in the Strong as Heck Soccer Festival, host at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta, the Greene Trojans boys club tied the Westhill Warriors – 2018 Class B New York State Champions –1-1 after a scoreless first half.

Greene struck first on the scoreboard with a Scout McCumiskey goal as 10:02 remained in the contest. McCumiskey fielded a long through ball distributed by teammate Calob Davenport and ripped a shot into the lower side net, out of Westhill keeper Ian Prebish’s reach.

The Trojans held onto the lead in the back-and-forth battle between the two teams until the final 1:36 in the game due defensive header miscue. Westhill’s Jackson Powers then collected the ball to go one-on-one with Greene’s keeper Nick Shoemaker and put the ball into the net.

The Warriors nearly recorded the go ahead goal with 32 seconds left on the clock, however Shoemaker came up big with his third big save of the match, preserving the tie with the defending state champions.
