S-E claims back-to-back victories
OXFORD – The Lady Blackhawks goalkeeper Lexi Kohlhepp made two game-saving stops with 22:17 left in the game when the Delhi Bulldogs were awarded a penalty kick in Tuesday’s girls soccer game. Kohlhepp knocked the shot away from the goal and collected the rebound shot by the Bulldogs, keeping her team within one goal.
At the 14:36 mark, Kaylin Tefft fired a penalty kick awarded to Oxford past the Delhi’s goalie Sylvia Liddell for the game-tying goal. After the rest of regulation and two overtime periods, the game ended with a 1-1 tie in the Midstate Athletic Conference match on the Blackhawks’ pitch.
Delhi’s Jody Bray gave her team the early one goal lead after she put a ball between the posts and past Kohlehpp after receiving a corner kick from a teammate.
The Bulldogs held the advantage through the halftime break and well into the second half of play until Tefft’s goal erased the deficit completely.
Kohlhepp made 13 saves in the contest as Delhi took 16 total shots at the goal.
Oxford plays the second game of a back-to-back schedule this week on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The Blackhawks, who will once again play host, take on Afton/Harpursville for the first time this season.
