GREENE – Hosting Section III Sauquoit Valley Saturday afternoon for a non-league field hockey contest, Greene recorded five goals in the second half to go on to win 7-0 and earned their fifth win of the 2019 season.
Olivia Kennedy of the Lady Trojans scored a hat trick in the matinee victory with two coming in the second half rally by the home team. Both of her second half goals came from teammate Alex Brown’s stick, giving her two assists on the day.
The opening goal of the game was fired by Kennedy after she received a pass from Jess Unkel with 14:38 left in the first half.
Greene’s Bri Austin scored two goals – also in the second half – and delivered an assist to Brown for a first half goal that was registered with just over three minutes remaining before the intermission.
Also scoring an assist and goal were Leah Decker and Selena Emery. Decker found Emery with 18:33 left in the game and Emery drove the ball into the back of the cage to give Greene the 5-0 lead.
The second half scoring frenzy by the Trojans saw a goal nearly every two minutes and the final strike was recorded just three minutes after the prior tally.
