UV falls to Delhi in defensive matchup
GREENE – The Trojans have set themselves up for a Section IV Class C semifinals repeat matchup against Trumansburg after taking down the Saints of Seton Catholic with a 2-0 shut out win on Saturday.
The third-seeded Greene team held possession in their offensive third of the pitch for most of the game as the home squad held a 22-2 shot advantage over the visiting Saints.
On two of the 22 shots taken by the Trojans, Jonny Lee and Trent Rapp found the back of the net – each scoring a goal in the two halves of play.
With 28:08 on the clock, Lee opened up the scoring in the first with a quick flick pass from Scout McCumiskey after the cross ball served in by Terriek Brown set the play up.
While the Trojans kept the pressure going, they were unable to connect on another goal in the remaining minutes of the first half.
Over two-thirds of the way through the second half, Greene’s Alec Frair took a free kick after a Seton foul and sent the ball into the box towards the goal. His colleague Trent Rapp made a run to the ball and sealed the win with a header as 16:33 remained on the clock.
