NORWICH – The Norwich Family YMCA held its annual Pumpkin Splash last week with children throwing, carving, and painting over 150 pumpkins acquired from a local vendor.
According to Norwich Family YMCA Executive Director Jamey Mullen, this is the Y’s way of offering a fun family event and getting children away from television screens near Halloween.
“October has always been a festive month for Norwich,” said Mullen. “So just over six years ago we were coming up with different ideas involving pumpkins that would fit into the festivities.”
Mullen said eventually the Y came up with this pumpkin splash concept and everything came together from there.
