OXFORD – Calling all creative bakers and makers, the first annual Gingerbread House Contest is underway and there's a sweet level for everyone. This event was designed to culminate at the Holiday Festival of Lights on December 1.
Sponsored by Promote Oxford Now (PON), the contest specifies that the gingerbread houses (buildings) or structures be on a sturdy base, such as wood or cardboard, no larger than 18 inches by 18 inches. This is the only part that can be non-edible.
The structure has to be 100 percent edible including any internal support; gingerbread or graham crackers, and decorated with anything edible like gumdrops, kisses, candies, cookies, etc.
