Shawn Sastri, newly elected Mayor of Norwich, will be sworn into office in January. Sastri, a lifetime resident of Norwich, is passionate about hearing the needs of the residents and taking action to build a stronger community.

NORWICH – In January, Shawn Sastri will be sworn into office as mayor of the City of Norwich.

Sastri, who currently works for CZ-USA, was born and raised in Norwich.

He attended Norwich schools and graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1992.

He currently lives here with his wife, Karen, and three kids, Gehrig, Jackson, and Mikayla, who also attend Norwich schools.

Sastri said he has a passion for wanting to improve the city of Norwich for the last ten years.

“I was tossing the idea around with some friends, and I think it was at the end of December last year that I was like, man, I should run for mayor. One of my friends was like, ya know you've been talking about it for awhile, why don't you do it? We always talk about different ideas that can be done and I decided to run and I did not expect to be in this position.” Sastri said.
