CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office passed a state mandated assessment which has allowed the organization to remain accredited since 1999.
Chenango County Sheriff Ernest R. Cutting Jr., addressed the continuing accreditation and said it followed an assessment and direct review of 109 standards established by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Cutting said in order to remain in good standing, agencies must maintain compliance with all program standards throughout the period of accreditation.
“To me it’s important that the public knows we hold our department to and operate at the highest level of professionalism,” said Cutting. “The 100 plus standards are procedures and regulations set by the state that force us to operate with efficiency.”
According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the New York State Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Program is a progressive and contemporary way of helping police agencies evaluate and improve their overall performance.
