SHERBURNE – The opening round of the Sherburne-Earlville Boys Basketball Tip-Off Tournament was delayed a day but the postponement didn’t hinder the usual close game between inter-county foes Unadilla Valley and the host Marauders on Saturday. Led by double-doubles from Cameron Osborne and Caleb Parker, the Storm squeaked out a win over S-E 44-37.
Osborne grabbed 14 rebounds and scored 14 points while his colleague Parker recorded 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Storm jumped out to a 13-7 lead and were able to cling to the advantage for most of the game, despite only scoring three points in the second quarter.
S-E closed the margin down to two points before the intermission and went ahead by one after outscoring UV in the third.
In the final quarter of play, Unadilla Valley was able to attack the rim, drawing fouls that sent them to the free throw line. In the final stanza alone, the Storm went 14-for-18 at the line. Parker went a perfect 8-for-8 down the stretch to help lead his team to the win.
