BINGHAMTON – The Lady Purple Tornado went on a 35-4 run in the first quarter on the way to a 86-16 victory in the season opener on the road against Chenango Valley on Thursday.

With 35 total shots made for the visiting team, all 12 Norwich players who played in the contest scored at least two points. Emily Evans also reached double figures with 10. Abby Flynn and Dougher each kicked in nine for the Lady Tornado while MacKenzie Hess added eight in the win.
Norwich scored 20 points in the second and 22 in the third before closing out the game with nine in the fourth.
Chenango Valley was led by Maddi Trisket’s six points and Emily Godstal’s four.
The Tornado started out the game with their tough, hard-nosed pressure defense but called the press back midway through the first quarter.
