MORRIS – After taking down South Kortright – the tournament’s heavy favorite to win two days earlier – Oxford captured the Joan Martin championship by defeating the host Morris Mustangs 59-48.
The Blackhawks saw four players reach double-digits in the win as Olivia Kelsey scored 16 to lead all scorers.
Oxford trailed by six after the first quarter but went on a 12-4 run in the second quarter to take the 18-16 advantage into the halftime break.
Continuing to use their momentum from the second, the Lady Blackhawks added an 18-8 run to take the commanding lead. However, Oxford showed no signs of slowing down as they tallied 23 points as a team in the final eight minutes of play.
Madalyn Barrows received the Most Valuable Player honors for her performance in the tournament. She scored 14 in the win on Saturday. Teammates Karley Miller and Caitlyn Quigley were the other two Blackhawks who reached double digits as the two chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively.
