NORWICH – Almost every year the city experiences serious flooding after a significant freeze. The drop in temperature allows ice dams to form in Canasawacta creek. This year the flooding happened earlier then expected, causing damage to homes and businesses.

According to Alderman Matthew Caldwell homes on Prentice Street and surrounding streets experienced flooding in their homes. Businesses were also impacted, including NAPA Auto, McCreedy Motors, and Chentronics.

“We were surprised about the early flooding. Lots of residents lost possessions and local businesses had some damage,” said Caldwell.
