Three Facing Felony Indictments

NORWICH – A Chenango County Grand Jury indicted three people for felony crimes including assault on a police officer, credit card thefts, and for fleeing officers.

Michael P. Piliero was indicted for second-degree assault, a class D felony, second-degree attempted escape, a class A misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the indictment, at approximately 1:40 p.m. on November 13, at the City of Norwich Police Department Piliero intentionally caused physical injury to a Norwich City Police Officer while resisting arrest and attempting to escape from custody.

The indictment states that Piliero struck the officer, “...on the top of the head and face, causing a cut to the top of his head and a bloody nose.”

The indictment adds that Piliero also attempted to, “...open the number keypad on the west door of the booking room and attempted to run towards the south door of the detention facility.”
